Construction

The pre-sewn cover is placed over the completed bed unit with a coordinating top. The mattress is then enclosed by the tape edge machine.

Spring Unit

The VertiCoil spring unit is L&P's patented new design. The Active Support Technology allows the Verticoils to react and conform to each individual's contours for excellent support for the body as well as showing superior durability.

Insulation

This hypoallergenic pad exhibits superior strength and durability when to compared to standard shoddy pad. Tests indicate 45% greater resistance to burst and 93% greater resistance to tear than 1.75 oz. shoddy pad. This insulator pad is used on the bottom of the spring unit as well as the top.

Upholstery

A 3/8" foam topper pad is stapled over the springs on the sleeping surface for extra comfort and support. All corners of the mattress are fully padded with 3 1/2" fire retardant urethane foam blocks. The quilt top is flanged and stapled to the spring unit on all sides to keep it securely in place.

Quilting

A 1" layer of 1 oz. POLYBOARD is multi-needle quilted into the top panel of the mattress to provide a plush sleeping surface. POLYBOARD, manufactured by the Leggett & Platt Textile Group, is odorless, hypoallergenic, and inherently fire retardant.

Bottom

2.5 oz. gray non-woven material used on the bottom of the mattress is color coordinated with damask ticking. It is stitch bonded material which is non-skid and abrasion resistant.

The overall crown height is 4 1/2" (plus or minus 1/4").

Construction

All material edges are surged for additional strength to prevent seam slippage. A 1 1/4" gray binding tape is used to enclose the mattress on both sides. Each mattress is bar tufted to insure that it will fold properly into the unit and to prevent the cover from shifting or twisting on the spring unit.
